Are you entitled to carer support, without even knowing it?
This week (8 to 14 June) is Carers Week, a national campaign recognising the vital role unpaid carers play across UK communities, and highlighting the support available to them. This year’s theme, ‘Building Carer Friendly Communities’, focuses on ensuring carers are recognised, understood and supported in everyday life.
Many people don’t realise they are carers. You might only be helping a relative, friend or neighbour for a few hours a week – shopping, accompanying them to appointments or helping with chores around the house – but this still counts as unpaid care.
Carers Week also aims to help people identify themselves as carers so they can access the support they need.
Being a carer can be very challenging as much as it can be rewarding. At Royal Primary Care, we want to make sure carers are recognised and supported – so if you are helping someone regularly, please let us know so we can show you the kinds of support available or simply lend an ear.
If you think you might be a carer, visit our carers page or speak to a member of the team.
Support is available, and you don’t have to manage alone.
