Health and wellbeing coaching

A Health and Wellbeing Coach is someone who helps you take small, healthy steps to feeling better physically and emotionally.

They do not give medical treatment. Instead, they help you understand what matters most to you and support you to make changes that improve your health and wellbeing.

Health and Wellbeing Coaches are trained in behaviour change, which means they can help you build confidence, stay motivated and learn new ways to look after yourself.

They often support people with:

  • Lifestyle goals such as eating better, losing weight, becoming more active or managing day‑to‑day symptoms
  • Long‑term conditions like diabetes, breathing problems, heart problems, stress or low mood.

How can a Health and Wellbeing Coach help me?

A Health and Wellbeing Coach can help if you:

  • Want support to change your lifestyle – for example, if you want to lose weight, quit smoking, reduce stress or better manage your long-term health condition
  • Need help setting health goals
  • Feel unsure where to start with improving your wellbeing
  • Want to feel more in control of your health.

They work with you to choose your own goals and help you stay motivated. Research shows this type of support can improve physical activity, weight, diet and confidence in managing your own health.

What will my appointment be like?

Your first appointment will be up to one hour long, held at Rectory Road, Inkersall, Holme Hall or Whittington – or over the phone.

This session is your chance to talk about what matters to you, what you’d like to change and how the Health and Wellbeing Coach can support you.

Clinic times

  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

Appointments after your first session will take place on a periodic basis suited to your liking – from every 2 to 6 weeks. The can be shorter in length if you prefer, and will be planned around your goals.

Why choose a Health and Wellbeing Coach?

Health and Wellbeing Coaches can be the right choice for you if:

  • You want more time to talk about your health goals
  • You want support that fits around your life
  • You want to learn new skills to manage your health
  • You need help building confidence to make changes
  • You prefer a friendly, supportive and non‑medical approach.

Coaches work closely with the rest of the healthcare team, too, so they will make sure you get the right kind of medical help if you need it.
