Accessibility at our surgeries

Physical accessibility statement

At Royal Primary Care, we have created welcoming and accessible surgery sites to ensure all patients can access our services and care as easily as possible, by minimising any challenges or barriers to access.

Here are some of the facilities in place to help you access our services.

Getting in and around

  • Entryways: Step-free access is available at all our sites.
  • Floors: While some of our surgeries are ground-floor only, all our multi-storey surgeries have lift access available.
  • Parking: We have designated parking spaces at all surgeries (excluding RPC Brooklyn), close to the surgery entrances.
  • Automatic doors: Entrance doors have sensors and open without requiring physical effort (excluding RPC Brooklyn – please use the intercom if you require assistance).
  • Wide spaces: Our hallways, waiting areas and doorways are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility aids.

Accessible facilities

  • Accessible toilets: Our toilets are spacious and have emergency cords.
  • Reception desks: Most of our reception desks are partially or fully lowered, so that wheelchair users can interact with reception staff easily.
  • Wheelchair availability: All sites have a wheelchair available upon request.

Communication

  • Hearing loops: System in place at our reception desks to improve hearing for those with hearing aids.
  • Clear signage: Easy-to-read signs to help patients around the premises.
  • Interpreting and Translation services: Including British Sign Language and other language interpretation as needed (please make us aware in advance, where possible).

Additional features

  • Quiet waiting areas: Our staff will do their best to accommodate for patients who find busy waiting rooms overwhelming – please speak to our reception team.
  • Self-check-in screens: Available in each of our reception areas, to help you skip the reception queue and check in for your appointment quicker.
