Requesting help with your health problem
Our medical and admin request system uses a process called total triage. This means you will need to send us your request first, which is reviewed by our triage team made of clinicians and senior admin staff. Our triage team will decide what care you need for your health problem, ensuring we can offer appointments to patients who need them most.
To request help with a health problem, or to submit an admin request:
- Submit an online request form (Monday to Friday – 7am to 4pm for all requests, 4pm to 6.30pm for admin and routine requests only)
- Phone us on 01246 748000 (Monday to Friday – check our opening times)
- Visit us and speak with a receptionist (Monday to Friday – check our opening times)
When you contact us, we will ask what you need help with. After you submit a request online or on the phone, our triage team will look at the information you give us and decide the best next step for you. This might be an appointment, immediate medical advice, a referral or a request for more information from you.
We will then call or message you with what we will do next for your problem.

Extended Access Hours
As a Royal Primary Care patient you may be able to book routine appointments outside of our usual working hours, from 6.30pm to 8pm on Mondays to Fridays and from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.
The Enhanced Access Service aims to make it easier for patients to get a routine appointment with a GP or other health professional by providing additional appointment times in the early mornings, evenings and on Saturdays. These appointments are delivered in-house at one of our surgeries.
Please note this is NOT a drop-in or emergency clinic. We are unable to see patients who do not pre-book.
Please tell us:
- If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- If you need an interpreter
- If you have any other access or communication needs – for example, if you can’t access your phone at a certain time
- If you would like a chaperone present (please make this request at the time of submitting your appointment request).
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we can arrange a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, please make us aware when you are submitting an online request or when you speak to a receptionist.
You can also visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday (check our opening times).
