The 2025-2026 national Autumn and Winter vaccination programme has started across England and Wales, with the main campaign for adults beginning 1 October 2025.
Appointments for pregnant women and children have been open as of 1 September.
There have been several key changes to eligibility for this year’s vaccine programme, mainly regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
Who is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine?
- Residents in care homes for older adults
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed, as defined in Tables 3 and 4 of Chapter 14a of the Green Book.
Who is eligible for a flu vaccine?
- Those aged 2 and 3 years as of 31 August 2025 (also available via community pharmacy from 1 October 2025)
- Eligible school-aged children (Reception to Year 11)
- Those aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
- Pregnant women
- All those aged 65 years and over
- Those in long-stay residential care homes
- Carers in receipt of carer’s allowance or main carer of an older or disabled person
- Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- Frontline health and social care staff.
