Patients, colleagues and their families will be able to keep a little warmer this winter, thanks to the generosity of Dronfield charity Crafting2Gether.
Visitors to Royal Primary Care surgeries in Grangewood, Staveley and Clay Cross will be able to benefit from free scarves, blankets, hats, hand warmers and more – available to take from a labelled box in the surgery reception areas.
The beautifully handcrafted winter warmers come in all colours and sizes, offering something for everyone from infant to adult and giving a helping hand to those who expect to struggle through the winter cost of living.
Julie Cousins (pictured above), an admin team colleague who works across our Grangewood and Staveley sites, has been a volunteer with Crafting2Gether since the Covid-19 pandemic when the group was in its infancy as Shelagh’s Sewing Circle.
“This project was a huge success last year and we were delighted to see all our stock fly off the shelves, and we always would want to be able to bring more,” said Julie.
“There is a real need for warm clothing and accessories at this time of year, especially with the rising cost of living making essential items even less affordable. We hope that as many people as possible in our communities will be able to benefit from this project.”
Crafting2Gether is a registered charity which has proudly supported the NHS since its founding during the pandemic. Last year, they trialled the project which brought knitted and crocheted crafts out to RPC surgeries.
Having hoped to expand the project beyond RPC Grangewood for this winter, Julie was delighted to achieve her goal.
“We really wanted to help more of our communities benefit from the winter warmers, having seen that there was a clear demand for them. Hand crafting these items requires a lot of time and effort, as well as the free time given by the wonderful volunteers we have at Crafting2Gether. We hope that as many people as possible benefit from the donations and enjoy the crafts we have made.”
