Easter is just around the corner, bringing with it the much-awaited bank holidays on Friday 18 April (Good Friday) and Monday 21 April (Easter Monday).

All Royal Primary Care practices will be closed on 18 and 21 April, but the NHS is still there for you if you’re in need of care.

Prescriptions

Don’t let the bank holidays catch you off guard! Make sure to order and collect any repeat prescriptions as soon as possible to ensure you and your family have enough medicine. Most pharmacies will be closed during the bank holidays, so you might not be able to pick up a prescription at short notice.

To avoid any last-minute rush, order your repeat prescriptions by Monday 7 April. You can find out how to order your prescriptions on the NHS website. The Medicine Order Line will be closed on Good Friday (18 April) and Easter Monday (21 April), so remember to plan ahead.

Please order your prescriptions in advance, ensuring enough time for the prescriptions to be signed by a GP and processed by the pharmacy.

Community pharmacy services over the bank holiday

Some community pharmacies will be open over the bank holidays. Check your local pharmacy opening times online, visit their website, or give them a call for more information.

NHS 111

If you need medical advice during the bank holidays, please contact NHS 111 through the online service: https://111.nhs.uk.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and will be able to assess you and, if you should need it, book you a time slot at an Urgent Treatment Centre to make sure you can be seen safely.

Urgent Treatment Centres

Urgent Treatment Centres remain open over the bank holidays from 8am to 8pm, and can treat a range of urgent care needs without the long waits at A&E. Urgent Treatment Centres can treat things like; broken bones, sprains, minor cuts and burns, minor head injuries and more.

The nearest Urgent Treatment Centre to Chesterfield is Whitworth (Matlock), with other Derbyshire UTCs at Buxton, Ripley, Derby and Ilkeston.
